Classroom Visitation Process

LLP Classroom Visitations
These voluntary classroom visitations are designed with a particular spirit in mind. They are not occasions to critique classroom practice or showcase a teaching presentation; rather, they are designed as opportunities to discuss teaching with colleagues and as occasions to initiate a dialogue about pedagogy. These visitations are proposed as learning opportunities or professional development possibilities not as extra busy work or tedious chores. The classroom visitation may be arranged with a colleague of your choosing as follows:

Pre-Conference Conversation:

Syllabi may be exchanged.

Classroom context should be defined.

Concerns should be articulated.

Faculty may pose questions for one another to attend to when visiting.

Post-Conference Conversation:
Faculty should share observations, respond to any questions, and try to reflect on what was learned through this experience.

Optional Written Reflection:
If desired, faculty members may write reflections on their visitation experiences and the post-conference dialogue.
