SWCA 2008 CONFERENCE
Welcome to the SWCA 2008 conference homepage! This is an evolving
site, so be sure to check back frequently as we add features and
information.
First, let us tell you how excited we are about seeing you in beautiful
Savannah, GA, at The Armstrong Center on February 7-9 of this year. A wonderful panel
of guest speakers—(in alphabetical order) Christine Cozzens, Kevin
Dvorak, Michele A. Eodice, and Christopher Ervin—plans
to
greet you with challenging discussions of writing center theories,
practices, and directions. Be sure to arrive in Savannah in time on
Thursday afternoon, February 7, to tour the conference center and
participate in the opening keynote symposium. Then, welcome your
colleagues at an evening reception.
As the conference progresses, we will be treated to showcase
sessions offered by our featured speakers. Moreover, we will have ample
opportunity to take advantage of the sparkling research and scholarship
of our peers as presented in papers, poster displays, workshops, and roundtables.
Publishers and vendors will be on hand to show us the latest textbooks,
software, and pedagogical materials related to our profession.
We should also take time out to enjoy each other's company and
to
talk about what we do and why we do it. On Friday night and Saturday
afternoon, several excursions have been planned to allow us to get to
know one another on a one-on-one basis.
Since this conference will not be hosted at a signature hotel but at a campus conference center, shuttle transportation will be provided for those
attendees who choose to stay at any one of five (5) recommended hotels.
Check out the list of official accommodations; we're sure you'll be
pleased with them. Then, register by December 21 and make your travel
plans. Whether you decide to travel by plane, bus, van, or car, you
should have no trouble finding a way to get to Savannah, and once here,
enjoying yourself!
Let people know where you're going and staying by sending them a vintage postcard of Savannah's famous Forsyth Park fountain. Click on the picture below for an Adobe Acrobat version that you can print out on cardstock paper and send to colleagues, friends, and family.
