Scream 3 is the third and final chapter in the Scream trilogy. This film is a typical stab flick. However, the film keeps an audience on its toes. Dabbled within the deaths are humorous lines that kept viewers amused as they are moved from victim to victim. The audience is never able to get settled, primarily because just as we start laughing, something happens that scares us half to death!
The plot resembles closely the plots of the first two movies, again with the heroine played by Neve Campbell, as Sidney. This film, however, has a slightly different twist that attempts to answer the questions that were raised in the first two movies. The scene is set in Hollywood on the set of the new Stab 3 movie that is being made about Sidney's life. She, on the other hand, has moved to a remote location in the mountains of southern California, where she has become a recluse. The characters of Gale and Dewey return in this movie, to meet up with Sidney and catch the killer.
The ending lacks some of the pizzazz that the first two movies has; in fact, it is pretty lame. Wes Craven could have done a better job with the ending. It is rather simple and uneventful, but I bet that will be the setup for the new chapter. I somehow doubt that we have heard the last scream from the Scream movies!
I have to say that I was more impressed with this movie than I thought I would be. Perhaps it was because I went late Friday evening with a large group of friends. The movie theater was packed, and the audience was in good spirits. So I guess the hooting and hollering of the audience really added to the experience of this movie. Had I seen it at a matinee, I know I would have been disappointed.
