SPRING 2014:

April 19, 2014

Brit Lit I: We will finish "The Rape of the Lock" on Monday. You should begin reading "The Way of the World." Next Wednesday, April 23, will be a reading day. See the Exercise page for final paper topics.

HEL: We will begin Chapter Ten on Monday. To complete the homework assignment (in-class handout), you will need to consult the Oxford English Dictionary, available throug Galileo.

I am reconsidering our next two tests because the semester is rapidly drawing to an end. We will talk on Monday, but think about whether or not you would like to end the semester with six tests (still dropping the lowest grade) rather than seven. This way, we could also take the final on the last day of class. We are currently scheduled for the next-to-last day of finals.

English 1102: Remember to submit your research paper to Source check! We will begin watching the film version o"Othello" on Thursday. For extra credit, you can watch a movie version on either "Othello" or "The Importance of Being Earnest" and write a brief critique of the film. You need to choose a version other than the ones we watch in class.

HEL: Monday,May 5th at 3:00 OR May 12th at 3:30 (we will decide together on Monday)
Brit Lit I: Monday, May 5th at 1:30 (last day of class)
